Have you ever had one of those days where you want to drop everything, hit the road and never come back? You know those times that you think what would happen if you just let it all go?….
Then suddenly you snap back into reality and start thinking about all the practical stuff:
- What about all my belongings, what would I do with them?
- How would I support myself on the road?
- What would my family think?
- Is this the responsible life choice?
The idea of freeing yourself from everyday life to set off on an adventure is exciting for some, terrifying for others. When this thought crossed Nora Dunn’s mind, she had no doubt about what her next step was going to be….
She went for it and never looked back!
Who is Nora Dunn?
On the road since 2007, Dunn is a well known travel blogger with her site The Professional Hobo. She has taken her time to travel and enjoy over 50 countries and five continents. She has kept her self going by trading work for accommodations and freelance writing to cover the rest of her costs. This has given her the opportunity to live many different lifestyles.
Travelling with a partner, going it solo, on the road romances, romances gone wrong, surviving natural disasters, passport theft, hospital trips, head-on collisions, travel fatigue, etc…
You name it! She’s probably experienced it!
She says: “Back in 2006, I started my blog as a simple way to keep in touch with my friends and family, and to keep journal of her travels.”
Now she’s one of the top travel bloggers out there! Spending her days (or years) exploring our beautiful world, meeting new people, and inspiring her readers with her experiences. However, it was a hard path. It required a lot of work, a continuous learning process and the ability to deal with all the ups and downs that come with extended travel. Not to say that she wasn’t having fun, there was always fun to be had.
Nora now has a solid freelance writing career that allows her to keep up with this lifestyle. Her most well known column is called Dear Nora where she gives excellent advice and tips about all things travel related.
With her vast experience, Nora has also spent a over a decade teaching people how to travel and work on the road. Dunn’s comprehensive guide called “Working on the Road: The Unconventional Guide to Full-Time Freedom” is full of great information for those of you yearning to become a digital nomad.
And if that’s not enough!
She also has an awesome ebook out that shows you How to Get Free Accommodation Around the World. We suggest checking it out, we absolutely love it!
Let’s Get to It!
Nora took a little time out of her day to talk with João from our 30 Day Blog Challenge team.

Dunn talks about how she got started in a time when blogging was still in a very primitive state. Plus gives some useful advice on blogging today, as well as answers some fun questions about herself.
